Jeng explains encounter with UDP supporters after endorsing President Barrow

Independent candidate Baboucarr Jeng, who just endorsed the president for the December election, described President Barrow as a man of peace.

‘’I have spoken to the president and vice versa, and what I heard from him came from his heart. The president is development oriented and has true love for the country. I have learned that he is a patriot who is ready to serve his people if re-elected in December,’’ Mr. Jeng noted.

Baboucarr Jeng also took a swipe at the UDP for being an intolerant party seeking to rule the Gambia.

He noted that he was invited for an interview at the Fatu Network at Kairaba Avenue. He explained that as he came from Banjul driving through the Sting Corner junction to the Bertil Harding highway, he met some UDP supporters around the election house. He said that when they saw pictures of him and the president on his vehicle, they started attacking and raining insults at him for supporting the president.

‘’Then I wonder if a party that is seeking to rule this country is already behaving that way, how will their government look like if given the chance to be in power?’’ Jeng asked amid a cheering crowd in the central Baddibou village of Kerr Pateh Koreh.

Baboucarr Jeng had intentions to run for president independently, but he later never got to the nomination process for vetting at the IEC headquarters.
