Gambia Milling Cooperation Supports SOS Children’s Villages with Substantial Donation

By Mariama Dem

SOS Children’s Villages got a big boost after Gambia Milling Cooperation (GMC) handed them a cheque of two hundred and forty thousand Dalasis. The generous donation is aimed at helping SOS in its vital mission of providing care to children without parental support.

SOS Children’s Villages, founded in 1882, has been working hard to offer parental care to vulnerable children. The donation from GMC, a milling company in The Gambia, shows their commitment to being socially responsible.

The GMC team, led by Mr. Carlo Randriambololona, the new General Manager, visited SOS Children’s Villages on January 5th, 2024, to hand over the cheque. Mr. Randriambololona, who himself is an orphan, shared that their decision was influenced by SOS’s well-presented proposal and a firsthand look at the village’s impactful work.

Omar Ali, GMC’s Commercial Manager, praised SOS Children’s Villages for their dedication to caring for children in need. Jean Pierre Kouamin, National Director for SOS in The Gambia, expressed deep gratitude for GMC’s gesture, highlighting the importance of a lasting relationship.

Ndey Maget Sugu, SOS’s Fund Development and Communication Manager, also thanked GMC for the significant support, noting its positive impact on the organization’s mission.

Since 2013, Gambia Milling Cooperation has played a crucial role in milling and producing flour and animal feed. With this support, SOS Children’s Villages will continue offering care and a loving home to children in need, ensuring they have a brighter future.
