In a ceremony held at Hotel Parliamentarian in Yamoussoukro, the Scorpions received electronic gadgets from Unique Group as part of a two-year sponsorship deal. The gadgets, including a RedMi smartphone, smartwatch, Bluetooth earpiece, weighing scale, wireless, and power bank, were given to each player and staff member.
Unique Group, the official partner of the national team, aims to leverage technology to advance football development. The multi-million dalasis AFCON agreement spans two years, focusing on promoting sportsmanship and sports development in Africa and globally. The electronic partner, Unique Group, will provide modern electronic gadgets, such as high-end smartphones, smartwatches, lifestyle electronic equipment, smart weight scales, tablets with football-related software, and smart TVs.
Papa Yusupha Njie, Chairman and CEO of Unique Group, emphasised the importance of technology for modern football development, expressing pride in supporting the Scorpions with the technological assistance needed to enhance their performance and results.
Lamin Kaba Bajo, President of the Gambia Football Federation, acknowledged the event as a significant moment for Gambian football, encouraging other private sector actors to recognise football as a lucrative industry benefiting all involved.
Minister of Youth & Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie, expressed gratitude to Unique Group for the gesture, highlighting the players’ deserving recognition for attracting attention and investment from the corporate world.
