“One of our students coming from Madiana to school today (Wednesday) in the afternoon shift was attacked by a man who attempted to rape her. They (the students) were three because this incident has happened before. So, we advised our students to come in groups when coming to school.”

According to the Principal, when the man attacked the victim, her friends ran away crying. Their screams caught the attention of some workers close by who rushed to the scene. Upon getting there, they found the alleged perpetrator struggling to abuse the student. He was then caught and brought to the school.

“When they came to the school, we saw the female student all covered with sand and her clothes removed from her body. She was only left with her underwear.” Principal Correa narrated.

The alleged perpetrator was then locked in the staff room and then subsequently taken to the Tujereng police station.

The victim meanwhile, was rushed to the Bundung Child Health and Maternal Center for medical examination.

Meanwhile, a commotion broke out when the students of the school wanted to batter the alleged perpetrator.

“They were all following the man – wanting to beat him. The man has to be dragged to the staff room by the teachers. And the students came out…they want to beat him, but we denied them”

The principal also recounted that the students followed them to the police station chanting slogans like; “enough is enough, no to rape, we need justice”.

Apparently, the school has reported similar incidents to the police, but nothing was done to prevent it. Star.gm contacted both the Police PRO and her deputy for comments, but couldn’t get any.

The alleged perpetrator is still under police custody pending further investigation.

Update: According to police PRO, ASP Binta Njie, the alleged rapist is 17 years of age.
