Njaba Kunda Final: Keita Kunda FC Clinches Back-to-Back Trophies

By Momodou Lamin Sanyang

In a final on Sunday at the Njaba Kunda football ground in Badibou Njaba Kunda in Central Badibou, defending champions of the Njaba kunda league tournament, Keita Kunda, secured back-to-back trophies. The reigning champions emerged victorious over Black Stars FC after a 4-2 scoreline in a penalty shootout.

The game saw limited goal-scoring opportunities from both teams, with Black Stars FC aiming to prevent Keita Kunda FC from claiming a second consecutive trophy. However, their efforts fell short as Keita Kunda FC appeared more threatening in the opening moments but couldn’t convert their chances.

While Black Stars FC improved in the second period, they failed to capitalise on the few chances that came their way. With the game ending 0-0, the winner was decided through penalties. Keita Kunda’s goalkeeper, Sanna Marong, emerged as the hero, saving two penalty kicks from Black Stars FC. Keita Kunda FC retained their title by winning 4-2 in the shootout.

The final attracted football enthusiasts from Central Badibou NBR and beyond. Keita Kunda received thirty thousand Dalasis and a giant trophy, while Black Stars FC went home with twenty thousand dalasis as runners-up. Both teams were awarded medals, and individual accolades were presented to the best players of the tournament, the best goalkeeper, and the leading goal scorer.

The committee is set to conclude its 2023-24 season with the announcement of the Junior Football Final.
