Mayoral Election: GDC Endorses Talib Bensouda

The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) Party, led by Honourable Mama Kandeh, has endorsed Talib Ahmed Bensouda as the Mayoral Candidate for the upcoming Mayoral and Chairmanship Elections for the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC).

In an unexpected press statement written by the party spokesperson, it says: “The Gambia Democratic Congress Party under the leadership of Honourable Mama Kandeh wishes to inform the Public particularly its Party militants, supporters and sympathisers that, it has endorsed Talib Ahmed Bensouda as the Mayoral Candidate for the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) in the upcoming Mayoral and Chairmanship Elections.”

According to the statement, the party believes Talib should be allowed to continue the good work he has been doing at the council.

“…we have seen how our people have realised unprecedented developments under him that have directly impacted on their lives and daily struggles. It is therefore, the conviction of our Party that we throw our weight behind Talib for the May 20th Election.”

This decision will undoubtedly boost the support base for the youngest mayor in the history of the council, in what appears to become a very tightly competitive election between the UDP and the NPP.
