Senegambian music sensations Abou and Fafa announced a momentous milestone in their careers during a press conference on Tuesday. The duo revealed they have signed a record deal with Senegal-based label Soubatel Music Record, marking their return to the music scene after a pause. The announcement also included details about new music releases and upcoming events, including tours scheduled for 2024.
After their hiatus and return from the UK and USA, Abou and Fafa disclosed the details of their collaboration with Soubatel Music Record. Abou Mbaye revealed that the record deal was not solely based on their relationship with the label owner, Matar Jobe, but also on their talent. They explained their first production with Soubatel, a song titled “Extra Nekh,” recorded when Abou was in the UK. Their latest music video, “Dila Bégué,” was also released in collaboration with the label.
Looking ahead, Abou and Fafa shared their plans to organise a mega concert in The Gambia for their fans and music enthusiasts. Abou emphasised that the concert would be unique, marking their return to live performances. Additionally, Soubatel Music Record is planning an international concert in their honour, starting in The Gambia.
Despite the geographical distance, FaFa Mbaye explained how they manage to work together efficiently, with Abou currently based in the UK. She expressed their commitment to remote collaboration and the anticipation of more projects in the future.
The collaboration with Soubatel Music Record, known for signing various artists in Senegal, presents a promising opportunity for Abou and Fafa to contribute to elevating the Gambian music industry to new heights.
